Fish Falls

Fish Falls is one of The Grampians most scenic natural attractions and is easily accessible from the popular Zumsteins Picnic Area.

The walk that leads up to the falls is a moderate 4.6 kilometre return trip whose medium gradient makes it perfect for many adventurous visitors.

Fish Falls, Walking Trail Distance & Location, Grampians Park Victoria

The starting point is the Zumsteins Picnic Ground. The walk involves crossing shallow waters, scrambling over rocks and a number of slippery track surfaces. This means that this walk may not be suitable for those travelling with young children or for those with mobility issues.

The falls drop down 60 metres to collect at the pool down below. The best time to visit the falls is after rain as the volume of water is higher and the falls may not flow during the summer drought. The walk should take around 2 hours return, depending on your fitness.

If you would like to go for a longer walk, then carry on from Fish Falls to the famous Mackenzie Falls. This walking trail is a little steeper and a little more challenging. If you would prefer to just do the shorter walk, then simply retrace your steps back to the Zumsteins Picnic Ground.

The track doesn’t have much cover from trees, so make sure to wear a hat and sunscreen during the hot summer months and bring plenty of water. Toilets are available at the Zumsteins Picnic Ground.
