Nhill Swamp Wetland Reserve

The Nhill Swamp Wetland Reserve is a stunning location to spend time in the outdoors; featuring a bird hide walk and a 500-meter long boardwalk.

To get to the reserve, you will have to pass through Jaypex Park, which is a terrific place to spend some time first if you are travelling with kids.

From here you will then take the boardwalk to the swamp areas, then to Nhill Lake. The pathways have been recently renovated, promising a relaxing walk. Be sure to come in comfortable walking shoes and bring your camera along; the swamp might not have much to offer in terms of activities, but the sights are truly relaxing.

The reserve is home to wildlife including ducks, kookaburras, and birds, which you can see from the boardwalk. Some of the birds that thrive here include several species of crakes, grebes, and rails. Several waders are also found here such as the Pied Stilt, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Red-capped Plover, and many more.

Nhill Swamp Wetland Reserve is located right in Victoria’s famous wheat and sheep belt. The town itself offers cosy accommodation options including motels, lodges, and a caravan park. Charming cafes and restaurants serve up delicious local food.
