Hamilton Parkrun

The Hamilton Parkrun is a free community event held weekly, where participants go on a 5-kilometre run, walk, or jog around Lake Hamilton.

People of all ages and abilities can join and use the walk as part of their regular exercise routine or training.

Perhaps the best part about the run is that it isn’t competitive by nature; everyone is invited to make it into whatever they want it to be. Either way, the Hamilton Parkrun has become a much-anticipated event in the community because it allows young and old alike to get fit together while enjoying the scenery of Lake Hamilton.

The event was established in October 2015 by Steve Jackson, who has since then made sure that the event continued to grow. Today, it has become an integral part of the local community. Even tourists on holiday are welcome to join. As a result, many participants have forged friendships over the years, and it has given people another reason to visit Hamilton.

Joining the run is easy and there’s no fee: all that’s needed is to register on the Friday prior to the event by 6pm. The run starts on Saturday morning, with the meeting point at Lakes Edge Adventure Playground on Rippon Road in Hamilton.
