This year, the Mother’s Day Classic is going local! Mother’s Day Classic Local combines the flexibility of a virtual fun-run or walk with the community atmosphere seen at physical Mother’s Day Classic events.
From March 2021, there will be an announcement on the local Mother’s Day Classic locations where you can complete your Mother’s Day Classic challenge with others in your local community on or around Mother’s Day. These local locations, while smaller in size and more informal in nature, will be big on community spirit!
The Mother’s Day Classic event has been running since 1998 and has raised over $30 million and funded more than 30 breast cancer research projects across Australia.

This is not a ‘race’ to the finish line and will not formally keep time for the participants, therefore runners and walkers are encouraged to have fun around the course. Participants are also encouraged to fundraise leading up to the event, to try and raise as much money as they can to be donated to this worthy cause.
The course traditionally runs along the Wimmera River, over to the wetlands and then returns back along the river. The trail is suitable for prams and wheelchairs and dogs are welcome to join in on the fun! Come a little earlier for a remembrance ceremony and a fun warm-up for all participants.
This year you’ll receive a race pack full of goodies, access to the online content and the opportunity to be a part of the incredible MDC community.
When you register, set a goal for Mother’s Day Classic Local. You can train for 5km, 10km, 20km or choose your own distance. Walk, jog or run, it’s completely up to you!
All participants will receive the ultimate Mother’s Day Classic race pack (valued at $30) including a medallion, race bib, backpack, start/finish line ribbon and sponsor goodies. Adults will also receive a limited edition headscarf and our special kids’ race pack includes chalk and stencils. Your furry friends can get a pet bandana so that every member of the family can join in on the fun!
On Mother’s Day, set out to achieve your goal in your own time and place or at one of our local locations. Honour those touched by breast cancer and remember that you’re making a significant impact by getting active for life-saving breast cancer research.
So come over to Horsham and join in on the Horsham Mothers Day Classic. All money raised goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
