Dunkeld Historical Museum

The Dunkeld Historical Museum houses many historic artefacts from the Grampians region that date back as far as the 1830’s. With a large collection of memorabilia, photographs, tools, and items from both world wars.

One of the most amazing things about this museum is that the items on display span a wide range of historic events, social changes and varied industries. There is also a special collection onsite, one that is linked to events around the time of the First and Second World Wars.

A visit to the museum is incomplete without viewing the early aboriginal display. This is a collection of artefacts that reflect the values and heritage of the early Aboriginal people. This collection is put on display at what was Dunkeld’s original church. There is also a large photographic collection which captures the essence of Dunkeld’s culture.

The museum is open only on Sundays and on public holidays, however other times for groups can be arranged by appointment.
