The clock features round faces, and it chimes every hour. Included in its design are two figures depicting diggers that work on a gold-washing cradle.

The best times to visit the clock are approximately two minutes before 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm, as this is when “With A Swag Upon His Shoulder” is played.

While visiting the Town Hall Clock, take some time to admire the building itself. Designed with eclectic Art Deco with touches of Victorian Classical style, the Town Hall takes you back in time. It’s linked to the Borough of Stawell, which was established in 1869.

The front area of the building was designed by John D’Alton, a Stawell Shire Engineer, back in 1872, while the hall opened its doors in 1873. Meanwhile, the rear hall was finished in 1924, and three years later a balcony was added.

The town hall clock is also important at a state and local level, as this is where several community milestones and celebrations take place. Both the community and local government recognise the importance of the landmark clock as well, and its mechanical figures.

The Town Hall Clock is located at the Stawell Town Hall on Main Street.
