Best’s Winery is one of the best-hidden gems of the Grampians wine region. Established back in 1866, it is one of the oldest wineries in Australia. Today, the business is run by the fifth generation Best family.
Even after so many years, Best’s Wines is able to make elegant and well-balanced wines.
Best’s Wines, Great Western, Grampians Winery, Victoria
Best’s winery and vineyards welcome all wine lovers for a tour and tasting. The winery uses some of the oldest and traditional viticulture methods and follows family traditions for crafting wines. Henry Best started this small family-owned business with his family and, even today, the Best family follows the same winemaking techniques of the butcher-turned-winemaker founder Henry Best.Best’s Wines feature two major vineyards; the ‘Concongella’ at Great Western and ‘Salvation Hills.’ Each of these vineyards produces a variety of distinctly different grape varieties, with some of the vines being more than 140 years old. By choosing quality grapes, the winemakers are able to create wines with fascinating facets, an elegant body and unique flavours.
Those coming here shouldn’t miss a visit to the Concongella Cellar Door. This old red gum tasting room dates back to 1869 and you will see beautiful old-style dacor, block plantings and a wooden interior. You will find a range of excellent wines and a limited collection of fortified wines available for tasting and purchase.
