When you reach the summit, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mount Abrupt and Dunkeld; these are considered a major highlight of the walk.

Part of the track will also take you through lush woodlands where you’ll get to a ridge lookout. Keep your eyes peeled for the many interesting plant species that call this area home; one of these is the spider flower also known as the Grevilia, which is native to this region.

The entire walk is just 2.4 kilometres back and forth, and it takes most people an hour and a half to complete. The best time to go is during the early morning or mid-afternoon when it isn’t too hot. The start and finish will be at the Piccaninny car park.

The Piccaninny walk is highly recommended for visitors looking for an easy trek in a stunning location.

There are no bookings or permits required. However, for your safety, keep in mind that the weather can change at the very last minute. It’s always best to check the local conditions before you head out.
