The Murtoa Racecourse is a popular country venue for thoroughbred horseracing in Murtoa; home to the Murtoa Marma Racing Club and the annual Murtoa Cup and Marma Cup.

It features a track length of 1,605 metres, a home straight that is 280 meters long, and well-maintained facilities including a flat and well-grassed track.

Racing twice a year, the Murtoa Racing Club hosts full TAB meetings, with the Murtoa Cup kicking off the Country Cup Race Meetings in the region in October. The second of Murtoa’s race meetings is held in Winter in July. Murtoa boasts an all-weather race track that races well in both the Summer & Winter months.

The racecourse is a notable training centre in the Wimmera – primarily because of its convenient location. Additionally, the racecourse uses clay loam soil, and it has a better ability to stand up in wet weather.

Through the decades, this venue has played host to numerous horseracing events. For visitors, it’s good to know that thoroughbred racing has been a vital aspect of Murtoa’s town life.

Volunteers are responsible for its excellent maintenance, and many in the community work together to make sure that the facilities are up to par all year round.

The Murtoa Racecourse is located along Racecourse Road in Murtoa, Victoria.
