Central Park, located in Stawell, is famous for being home to the iconic Stawell Gift foot race that takes place every Easter. The park itself is surrounded by several stunning gardens and peppered by majestic trees and vibrant grassy areas. The Central Park oval is equipped with recreational amenities including netball courts and has hosted several popular sporting events through the years. If you enjoy history, we recommend exploring the many historical buildings located just outside the oval’s perimeter.

Lake Hamilton is a tranquil lake in West Hamilton, best-loved for both relaxing and adventurous holidays. It’s a particularly great destination among the Grampians gardens and parks for scenic fishing, rowing, and canoeing all while taking in a view. Fishing enthusiasts frequent Lake Hamilton for the abundance of fish including golden perch, Redfin, and various species of trout including the brown trout and rainbow trout. During the spring and summer, families and friends flock to Lake Hamilton for a refreshing swim.

The Halls Gap Botanical Gardens are not to be missed. As one of the most popular Grampians gardens and parks, it’s famed for housing one of the country’s most extensive collection of native plants and several other thrilling features for both young and old. Visitors are encouraged to explore the several walking tracks. Nearby, the MacKenzie Falls and Halls Gap Zoo also make for great side trips.

Another one of the popular Grampians parks is the beautiful Alexandra Gardens Park. It’s easily accessible, conveniently located within the heart of Ararat. The walk-in fernery is a major attraction here, showing off an impressive display of ferns that give visitors the feeling of being in a truly exotic destination.

Other parks and gardens worth checking out in the Grampians include Sawyer Park, Cato Park, the Hamilton Botanic Gardens, and Avoca Chinese Garden, to name a few.
